Kentucky District 27

Born March 29, 1950, Sen. Walter Blevins Jr. (D) represents District 27, which covers Boyd County, Elliott County, Fleming County, Lawrence County and Rowan County. Blevins earned a bachelor's degree from Morehead State University and a degree in dentistry from the University of Kentucky. He is a dentist, and a former captain in the United States Army. Blevins is a member of Young Democrats- Morehead State University, Scabbard & Blade, Morehead Optimist Club and Masons. He is also a past presdent of Morehead Jaycees. Blevins served as president pro tem from 1997 until 1998, and was the majority whip in 1999. Blevins has served in the Kentucky Senate since 1992. Before then, he served for ten years in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
