Born May 23, 1949, Sen. Tom Buford (R) represents District 22, which covers Boyle County, part of Fayette County, Garrard County and Jessamine County. Buford earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky, and works in property management. He is a member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association, American Institute of Banking, Jessamine County Chamber of Commerce, Jessamine County Educational Foundation and various other organizations and charities. He is also on the advisory board for the Kentucky School for the Deaf, as well as the Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities Task Force. Buford was minority whip from 1991 until 2002, and was minority caucus chair from 1993 until 1996. He has been in the Kentucky Senate since 1991.
