Born April 14, 1959, Rep. Kelly Flood (D) represents District 75, which covers part of Fayette County. Flood received her bachelor's degree in American Studies from Florida State University in 1981. She later attended Starr King School for the Ministry and served as the senior minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Lexington, Kentucky from 1991 until 1998. She has recently been appointed to the new Poverty Task Force, will work with the University of Kentucky Center for Poverty Research to fight poverty across Kentucky and the country.
According to Flood's Web site, "For the past decade, Kelly has raised more than $10 million for progressive causes: as vice president for a liberal religious theological school; as an activist and board member for such non-profits as Kentucky Council for Community and Justice and the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning; and as a volunteer in the Steve Kay for Council and Barack Obama for President campaigns. "
Flood has been a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives since 2009.
