Palumbo, Ruth Ann
Born July 7, 1949, Rep. Ruth Ann Palumbo (D) represents District 76, which covers part of Fayette County. Palumbo earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky. She is involved with numerous institutions, including the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, Professional Women's Club, League of Women Voters, Girl Scouts USA and Lexington Musical Theater. According to her Web site,
"The Honorable Ruth Ann Palumbo has fought for Kentucky families, women's rights, minority rights, and bringing new businesses into Lexington and the entire Commonwealth since 1991. Representative Palumbo has been a champion for Women’s Rights (for which she won an award), Education, Child Safety, Equality, Domestic Violence, a Balanced Budget, Fixing Kentucky's Medicaid crisis, and bringing New Businesses to the Commonwealth."
Palumbo has been a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives since 1991.
- Also according to her Web site, Palumbo has voted in favor of Mortgage Reform, the Wage Discrimination Bill, a Ban on Texting and Underage Cell Phone Use While Driving, Business and Personal Tax Reform, a Booster Seat Requirement, Restoring Voting Rights to Former Felons, and the Concealed Weapons Permits Law.
