Speaker of the House
Born Aug. 14, 1951, Rep. Greg Stumbo (D) represents District 95, which covers part of Floyd County. Stumbo earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky and a law degree from the University of Louisville. A member of the Kentucky Bar Association and American Bar Association, Stumbo has served as Assistant Floyd County Attorney, Martin City Attorney and Trial Commissioner to the Floyd County District Court. He is also a past vice president of the Floyd County Young Democrats. Stumbo has served in the Kentucky House of Representatives since 1980, except for the three years (2004-2007) that he served as state attorney general. Prior to his election as attorney general, Stumbo was the majority floor leader from 1985 until 2003. He returned to the House in 2008, and in Janurary 2009 was voted Speaker of the House.
