Freedom Issues

Developments

A proposed tax increment financing project would bring a community arts center, a minor league baseball stadium, and parking to Bowling Green. Roughly $200 million dollars of tax-payer money would be collected over 30 years to pay for these public infrastructure improvements.

Tenant Act

Mayor Elaine Walker heavily supports enacting the Universal Residential Landlord and Tenant Act (ULTRA) in Bowling Green. The mayor schedule a forum for local renters and plans to schedule another for landlords.[3] The Act attempts to improve the living conditions of the residents renting property.

Support

Mayor Walker draws support from local renters. She also asserts that the act will make it more feasible for landlords to evict bad tenants. [4]

Opposition

Those who oppose ULTRA claim that it merely will make government larger and have no real effect on the landlord/renter relationship other than infringing on the rights of property owners to conduct their business as they want to.
