House Bill 340 (2010)

House Bill 340 (or BR 27 2010) was introduced on January 28, 2010 by Representatives Rocky Adkins and Johnny Bell to the 2010 General Assembly.

It is an act relating to inmate recidivism reduction.

House Bill 340 proposes to create new sections of KRS Chapter 197 relating to prisons, to permit the Department of Corrections to operate a Prison Industries Enhancement (PIE) program in which the labor of prisoners is leased to private entities to make products and provide services for private employers which shall be in compliance with federal law; create a commission to oversee the program; provide that the program is temporary and shall expire ten years after the first program begins reauthorized by the General Assembly.[1]
