JCPS Graduation/Dropout Rates
The chart in figure 1 shows Jefferson County average graduation rates for five years from 2003 to 2007 alongside the state average graduation rates. For all the five years, Jefferson County graduation rates were below the state average. Figure 2 shows dropout rates for Jefferson county schools for the same five year period from 2003 to 2007.
JCPS Recent Events
October 20, 2008 Press Conference
A press conference was held at Shawnee High School Magnet Career Academy and served as a call to action from several minority pastors in Louisville and The Bluegrass Institute For Public Policy Solutions. The press conference coincided with the release of a new report authored by education analyst Richard Innes entitled State of the District: How Whites and Blacks Perform In Jefferson County Public Schools. The press conference garnered media coverage from all major television networks in the area.
