John Yarmuth is the U.S. Representative for Kentucky's 3rd congressional district.
Yarmuth is the Senior Whip of the Democratic Party and serves on the Committee on Ways and Means and the Committee on the Budget.

Career History
He is a former independent newspaper publisher. A Louisville native who graduated from Atherton High School in 1965, he graduated from Yale University, majoring in American Studies. After working for U.S. Senator Marlow Cook from 1971 to 1975, he returned to Louisville to begin his publishing career when he founded the Louisville Today magazine (1976–1982). He later worked as a vice-president of University Relations at the University of Louisville.
Prior to his election to Congress, Yarmuth was best known for founding the weekly paper, The LEO, or Louisville Eccentric Observer, in 1990 and for writing a progressive-oriented weekly political column that was featured on the first page of most issues.

The Federal Reserve
John Yarmuth is a cosponsor of The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, which proposes an audit of the Federal Reserve. [1]
Foreign Policy
John Yarmuth voted FOR the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act of 2009, which enhances United States diplomatic efforts with respect to Iran by expanding economic sanctions against Iran. [2]
Yarmuth voted AGAINST directing President Obama to remove United States Armed Forces from Afghanistan, pursuant to section 5(c) of the War Powers Resolution. [3]
Minimum Wage
John Yarmuth voted FOR an increase in the minimum wage under the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007. [4]
The Second Amendment
Yarmuth received an F rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA) for the 2008 election cycle.
Yarmuth currently has an F rating from Gun Owners of America. [5]
Social Security
According to his campaign website, Yarmuth OPPOSES the privatization of Social Security. [6]
